Interpreting and Translating Centre
About
The Interpreting and Translating Centre (ITC) employs skilled translators and interpreters for many languages spoken in South Australia. We are a South Australian Government agency — part of the Department of Human Services.
We offer high-quality, confidential interpreting and translating services in over 100 languages and dialects. Each year, we handle about 70 thousand assignments for various private and business clients from diverse backgrounds.
We are a best practice service provider. We support the professional standards of NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) and work with AUSIT (Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators).
Founded in 1975, ITC is the second oldest government interpreting and translating agency in Australia.
Celebrating 50 years
In 2025, we proudly celebrate 50 years of the Interpreting and Translating Centre.
We have helped millions of people from all backgrounds communicate clearly and with confidence. We play a key role in building a more inclusive and connected South Australia — and we remain committed to that mission for the years ahead.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Department of Human Services strives to celebrate and improve the lives of people of all ages, cultures, disabilities, ethnicities, faiths, gender identities, sex characteristics and sexual orientations. We are committed to making our services and workplaces safe and inclusive for all people and ensuring the full diversity of the communities we serve are represented in the strategies we lead.
